Raised in a household where rhythm was a way of life, Backwoods Milly (born Maximilian Dawkins) was immersed in music from birth. With a musically gifted father and a reggae-loving mother, sound and creativity became his earliest language. Today, he’s a multi-talented singer, rapper, DJ, and producer who blends genres with fearless fluidity—shaping tracks that carry listeners on a journey across R&B, hip hop, drum & bass, and tech house.

As a founding member of the Pacific Northwest band Smoove Movez and rapper/DJ for Battle for Athens, Milly has built a career that thrives on versatility and connection. Under stage names Mackamillz and Backwoods Milly, he’s performed everywhere from underground house parties to some of the world’s biggest stages. His catalog includes several albums with Battle for Athens and more than 30 releases with Smoove Movez, earning local radio play and a reputation for unforgettable live shows.

Milly’s global footprint is equally impressive. He held a DJ residency in Vang Vieng, Laos, spinning at the largest weekly party in Southeast Asia during its peak season, drawing 500+ people nightly. He has headlined across Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, including performing at the legendary Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan before a crowd of 20,000. His resume features gigs at The Club (Khao San Road, Bangkok), Koh Tao’s Fishbowl and Lotus Bars, AC Bar, Yao Bar, and Koh Lanta’s New Year’s Eve festival. Back home in the U.S., he has commanded the stage at venues like the House of Blues (Hollywood), BB King’s, Seattle’s Nectar Lounge, and The Crocodile Club, as well as securing a long-running weekly residency at The Shakedown in Bellingham, WA. A fierce lyricist, he was also runner-up in the Bellingham B-Boy Conference battle rap competition.

Beyond the stage, Milly has collaborated with countless artists, including a wide circle of UK musicians during his time in Southeast Asia, further shaping his sound into a cosmopolitan blend of cultures and styles. His music is never just about the beat—it’s about transporting audiences into an experience, a lifestyle, a movement.

Currently, Milly is expanding his catalog with fresh projects: new EDM, tech house, drum & bass, jungle, and R&B releases; upcoming music with Smoove Movez and Battle for Athens; the interstellar-themed Intergalactic Playerz project; and a highly anticipated solo rap album under the Backwoods Milly moniker.

At the core of it all, Milly embodies the Goosin’ The Globe lifestyle—exploring, creating, and inspiring while keeping family first. With a vision that spans from intimate shows to a full-scale world tour, he is set on leaving an indelible mark on the global music scene.
