Before stepping into the limelight with P.M. Dawn, Doc. G's journey into the music world was marked by significant collaborations that helped shape his artistry. In 1999, he crossed paths with Jay Plat and Mikey 2 Ninez of the hip-hop / EDM camp Spitfire.
This meeting proved pivotal; under Spitfire, Doc. G honed his skills and contributed to numerous tracks.
The experience gained during this period laid a solid foundation for his musical career, offering him insights into the intricacies of the music production and the industry.
Military Service and Return:
Following his early musical exploits, Doc. G answered the call of duty by serving in the military. His service period taught him invaluable life lessons and strengthened his resolve. In the Navy he was awarded a National Defense Medal, Seas Service Ribbon and a Sixth Fleet Commander's Award for Bravery after saving multiple children from a trash fire in an apartment complex in La Maddalena, Italy.
Upon his return, Prince Be prompted Doc. G to stand by him and lend his strength both personally and professionally.
Joining P.M. Dawn:
Doc. G officially joined P.M. Dawn as a co-lead vocalist in 2005. The duo faced numerous challenges but also enjoyed significant successes, notably with their hit "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss" which earned a place on VH1’s Greatest 100 Songs of Hip Hop list and a Rose Tattered performance on TV's "Hit me Baby One More Time".
Their music, known for its lyrical depth and innovative soundscapes, continued to gather a loyal following.
Continuing the Legacy: Despite the hardship of losing Prince Be in 2016, Doc. G remained steadfast in his dedication to their shared dream. He is still committed to "Maintain The Bliss at all costs," a phrase that has become a personal motto.
